Diamine Inkvent 2022 – Day 19

I really needed a nice ink after yesterday’s disappointment.

Today’s door! *drumroll*….

Day 19’s ink is called “Silent Night.”

I tested, as per usual, using a borosilicate glass dip pen in a Maruman Mnemosyne notebook.

Handwriting in a dark blue ink, almost a cross between steel blue and navy blue, on white paper that reads "Day 19: Silent Night." To the right of the writing lays a small square bottle with a metallic dark blue label that reads "Silent Night" in hard-to-read silver script under the diamond Diamine logo.
Lovely ink in varying blues. Text reads “Day 19: Silent Night” in my blocky handwriting.

What a relief. What an incredible relief.

So this is, for all intents and purposes, an ordinary ink. It’s a dark blue, almost a blue-black, but with a lot of gray in there. It’s somewhere between steel blue and midnight blue. However, for as dark as it is, the writing looks different from start to finish, and the splotch shows off some amazing shading.

This is lovely to write with. Really rich-feeling. Just the right amount of flow, though I had to scribble to get the splotch right. Also, even though it seems like a wet ink, it dries really fast.

A closeup of the splotch in shades of midnight, navy, steel, and other dark blues with a gray undertone. Pen nib marks are very obvious.

And I don’t know what it is about this ink, but Monte was VERY interested in it.

Monte, a seal-point snowshoe Siamese-mix cat with sable face, forehead star, white chin & chest, and bright ice-blue eyes is sitting on a wicker chair with peach cushions, reaching out a white paw with obvious claws trying to grab the wrapped bottle of "Silent Night" ink.

This one’s a winner, and not because it’s got any spectacular features. It’s a winner because it feels like velvet when I’m writing, and kind of looks like that too. It appeals to the goth in me as well as the texture-sensitive part of me. Win win, all around. We’ll see if I’ll want a full bottle, though.

Next up: Day 20!

(How are we already so far into the month??)
