Diamine Inkvent 2022 – Day 22

I have all fingers crossed that today’s is better.

Aaand behind door 22? *drumroll*….

Day 22’s ink is called “Deck the Halls.”

I tested, as per usual, using a borosilicate glass dip pen in a Maruman Mnemosyne notebook.

Handwriting in deep plum-purple ink on white paper that reads "Day 22: Deck the Halls." The strokes in the writing are a little blurred. The splotch has some smudges above it. To the right of the writing lays a small square bottle with a metallic purple label that reads "Deck the Halls" in slightly blurred silver script under the diamond Diamine logo.
Dark dark plum-colored ink. Text reads “Day 22: Deck the Halls” in my blocky handwriting.

oooooh.

OOOOOH.

First, no I do NOT love it just because it’s purple. In my defense, even if I wasn’t a purple person, I’d love this ink. Remember when I was talking about how wonderful the texture of Silent Night was?

This one is BETTER.

The flow is fast without being too much, the writing is wet without being drippy, and even though it feathers a tiny bit in some strokes, it’s still so easy to write with that I just don’t care. I’d probably care if I was in any way capable of precision edges, but… let’s face it, I’m just not. I can’t even draw a consistently straight line with a RULER.

(That is not hyperbole. I’ve tried.)

OKAY. So. On to the color.

Deck the Halls is a beautiful dark plummy color, with a bit of a brown base and a pinkish trend to the shading. It’s really a lovely warm color, and even though I tend to prefer blue-based purples, this really charmed me.

It also has a nice, not too overwhelming amount of coppery-pink shimmer, which ends up being a pretty combination. I wasn’t able to photograph it too well, but trust me, it’s striking.

At different angles, more of the shimmer shows up, and it’s really beautiful. Like cherry-blossoms covered with dewdrops reflecting a sunset.

Yeah it has me going full-throttle poetry, here.

So I had to post this last one above because that drop at the bottom was just WAY too pretty, and it shows how each different angle ends up with a different showcase of shimmer.

I am MAJORLY chewing my nails over whether I can trust this shimmer in a nib pen. I’m going to try it in a Preppy and see what happens.

Next up: Day 23!
