Diamine Inkvent 2022 – Day 23

The 23rd door! *drumroll*….

A paper Advent calendar door has been opened to reveal a small plastic-wrapped bottle inside. It has a metallic dark orange - or red, not sure - label that reads "Celebration" in gold (for once!) script under the diamond Diamine logo.

Day 23’s ink is called “Celebration.”

I tested, as per usual, using a borosilicate glass dip pen in a Maruman Mnemosyne notebook.

My first, and really only, thought is “Bright!”

Celebration is an intensely bright orange red with a LOT of bright gold-copper shimmer. But for some reason, the shimmer is hard to capture in photos.

WOW is this bright. I am super glad I had some sunlight today, because this ink really needed it. It’s not only bright in the color, but it has some killer shimmer in it, though it’s hard to see that on the screen, even with the sunlight.

The color is very much in the “we’ve moved from tomatoes to cayenne peppers” range, but this one isn’t unpleasant in any way. The flow is slow, but it’s only a touch dry so I was able to finish the writing with one dip. It does dry slowly, but not as slowly as Cosy.

I want to assure you that my faint praise isn’t indicative of anything wrong with the ink. It’s a fine red ink. I like it better than most of the ones I’ve tried. I just… like Cardinal better. Even though this one’s shimmer is incredibly pretty.

At different angles, more of the shimmer shows up, but it still isn’t really demonstrating the depth of how shiny it gets. Even the video doesn’t show it as it really is. If you get a chance to see this one in person, I recommend it.

…. I still like Cardinal better.
